For nine years now, Cologne Opera has been celebrating the concept of “Opera for All”. This excellent concept aims to make opera accessible to the general public. Thus, not only young – and especially female – artists are promoted, but also innovative projects such as “Opera for Young and Old”. A visit is a must for every culture lover.
Since 1986, the Kölner Philharmonie has been an integral part of the city’s musical life. The programme on offer includes folk, jazz, pop as well as symphonic works and much more! The beautiful hall, which is modelled on an amphitheatre, can seat up to 2000 people.
The Museum Ludwig contains not only the third largest collection of Picasso works in the world, but also the most extensive Pop Art collection outside the USA, a huge collection of German Expressionism, the Russian avant-garde and the history of photography. In short, it is one of the most important art collections in the world!
Once the birthplace of the world-famous Eau de Cologne, the former perfume factory now houses a fragrance museum. Walk in the footsteps of Johann Maria Farina, who made the city world-famous with his scent. His descendants have remained true to their ancestor and today produce perfume in the 8th generation!
On more than 4,000 m², visitors to Cologne can experience the largest representation of the history of cocoa and chocolate. In addition to a walk-in tropical house and natural history information about cocoa and the cultures that grew it, visitors also gain an insight into the modern production of chocolate: from the cocoa bean to the praline!
